The ion pumps of the cells can use as miniature ion engines or miniature MHD (Magneto Hydrodynamic Drive)-drive. They can connect with the nanomachines by removing cell organelles. And then the nanomachine can slip into that empty cell. Or it can rip bites of the cell membrane. Then nanomachine can control those ion pumps by conducting electricity to that membrane.
The ion-driven nanomachines can be next-generation power tools. The ion pumps of the cell core can use as small ion motors. The idea of this kind of system is simple. The organelles of the cells will be removed and then the cell's core will connect with the nanomachine. The nanomachine will just control the function of the ion pumps by connecting plus and minus electricity to the cell membrane that is "stolen" from living cells.
That kind of thing makes it possible to control nanomachines inside the human body. When the polarity of the electricity is changing it opens the certain ion pump. And that ion pump can drive the electrolytic liquid through it.
The nanorobot can fly by using a plasma ball. In that case, the nanomachine is in the artificial ball-lightning. And the heat of the plasma makes that small robot hover above the ground.
In some wildest visions, the small-size robot called a mini- or nanomachine will just cover with a water drop that is pulled to the machine by using magnetism. Or there can be some network that helps to keep that droplet in form. Then there would be the creation of the plasma ball that makes the system hover and follow the magnetic power lines of the Earth. The purpose of the water droplet is to isolate the plasma from the core of the nanomachine.
Then the ions will shoot to that plasma ball, and that causes asymmetry in the power of that plasma. In the same way, the magnet that has the same pole as the plasma will target that plasma ball that causes oscillation in that thing. So that oscillation can send pressure waves to air. And those pressure waves can make the machine travel in the direction where the controller wants.
