Researchers from the University of Minnesota are making it possible to control prostheses by using EEG.
When combined with an artificial intelligence computer and the above robotic arm, the University of Minnesota researchers’ neural chip can read and interpret brain signals, allowing upper limb amputees to control the arm using only their thoughts. Mind reading is possible. The new invention makes it possible that amputees can move their prostheses. The same technology that is making it possible to control prostheses can use to control remote-controlled robots. And those robots can operate as external bodies for people who use this technology.
The prostheses controlled by the EEG are also robots. So the same technology that is used in those prostheses can use in many other types of systems. The system can also read thoughts and project them to the computer screen. And that thing is making it possible that this kind of system is the next-generation police and security system.
Machine intelligence is making it possible that the microchip can interact with the prostheses and communicate with computers that are hidden in that robot arm. The biggest challenge in those systems is to connect the robot arm control with a certain bite of the EEG.
In the same way, similar systems can control mobile telephones and computers. So this kind of technology allows a person to interact with many types of computers and computer-based systems. The EEG can use to control things like aircraft.
And that thing makes it possible to create jet fighters that can make very tight turns. Even if the pilot would be onboard that brain-controlled interface allows turning the aircraft with extremely strong G-forces. The pilot must not even move their hands if all systems can control by using the EEG.
One way to make a system that uses the EEG for controlling the thing is to use the electric curves of certain brain areas. The thing is that. A certain group of neurons are controlling every single movement of the human body. So if the neuron group that controls for example finger movement is known the system can detect the activation of those neurons and transmit information about that activation to the decoder that controls the manipulators.
