Above this text, you can see the starfish and the tree leaf. You can see one very interesting thing. Both of those creatures are symmetric. Most of the living species are symmetric without depending on are they vegetables or animals. That thing shows that symmetry is somehow important things. But why does nature favors symmetry? The tree leaves, flowers, and almost all animals are symmetric.
And the reason for that can be that symmetric shape requires a minimum genetic material. If the genetic material like base pairs of the DNA can use in many points that make it possible to reuse the same DNA sequences at least in two points of the DNA of the species.
If all parts of starfish would be different, every single projection requires its unique bite of the DNA. Because all of the projections are similar. That organism can recycle the DNA sequences. In that model, the DNA alternates the form of the center and projections. That thing makes it possible to create an organism by using the minimum mass of DNA.
DNA is like a computer program that involves the instructions on how to make that creature. If every single finger in human hands would be unique. That requires much more DNA than symmetric fingers. The human hands are similar. But the order of the fingers is the opposite. Each finger is similar to its mirror finger.
This means that nature is following the golden rule of engineering. That rule is the KISSAP (Keep It So Simple As Possible). This principle means that the genomes of the organisms are an involving minimum number of base pairs. This is the reason why all organisms are symmetric. The symmetric structure requires fewer base pairs than asymmetric structures.
