Why do we have emotional memory?

The researchers at Basel University discovered a new function in the cerebellum. This function is emotional memory. There have been predictions about this kind of memory. That means the emotional reaction requires that there must be some memory neurons that are storing emotions. 

The question was: were those neurons so-called ordinary memory neurons? Or are there some neurons that are specialized for handling emotional memories? 

That means the emotional neurons must be connected with other neurons. And that interconnection is making the emotional reaction to the memory. But finding the cells that are handling the emotional memory is a new thing. 

So the researchers have located the position in the cerebellum that controls emotional memory. That thing can be fundamental in criminal investigations. 

Emotional memory is the thing that made for helping us survive in social relationships. That thing means that we can avoid some person or place that is dangerous.

Emotional memory works like all other types of memory. That means emotional memory handles the negative things first because negative things involve information about things, that we should avoid. 

The term "emotional memory" means the ability to connect an emotion to something. And the thing that deceives us in the cases where we are telling lies is emotional memory. If we try to describe something that is not happening the lost emotion tells us that there is something wrong in the story.

Researchers finally located the place where emotional memory is.  The position of those cells that store emotions are an important thing for lie detectors.  If a person lies about things like street assaults there is one thing that shows the person is telling lies. That is the lost activity of the cells that are controlling emotional memory. 

The lost emotional reaction tells that something is missing in the case. Same way if the person sees the place where something bad happened. That thing causes an emotional reaction. 

Emotional memory has a connection w with all things that has an emotional load. So even if the person is silent about something that happened in the past. The emotional reaction will tell if there is some kind of connection with the place or the person. 

When researchers are researching things like phobias they are researching the emotional reaction. 

Elevator comb, fear of dark, or fear of closed spaces have en origin from childhood. If a person is afraid to go in an elevator. There is something happened in those places. Even if that thing is minimum but is the first experience the person might ever use elevators. The thing is that if the very first experience is bad, the person might never use something or go someplace.
